Music Magazine Cover Audience Feedback

Callum Stewart
The colour scheme really makes the masthead stand out from the rest of the piece. The large image which dominates the page indicates that this will definitely be the main article in the magazine. As for negatives, I find it hard to see the word ‘more’ in the bottom left of the page, as it is a very similar colour to the image on which it is placed. I feel it should be a lighter shade of the same colour for it to stand out more.

I like the way the main image covers the E and the R of the masthead slightly. It makes it look professional. I like the use of coverlines as they are the things that sell the magazine. They look young and cool. I like the colour scheme being used because it does not clash with the main image.
For negatives, I think that the cover lines could be spaced out a bit more as it can look like a busy page and audiences could get confused as to what the main article is. J

I like the colour scheme, it stands out well with the wine colour on the black t shirt. The quality of the photo used on the cover isn’t focussed, and this makes the cover look slightly unprofessional.

The colour scheme that has been used creates a recognisable house style that gives the magazine its own identity and for this reason I think this is a positive feature. I really like the way that there different styles of fonts used, it helps every cover line stand out and be unique. However, a negative feature is the fact that the Friendly fires image goes the main image, which although adds levels to the page, I don’t think should be done. On the other hand, I like the way that all of the bands names have been placed down the left hand side of the page, I think that this is a unique feature which hasn’t been replicated in other magazine. I think that this is a strength.

I think that the colour scheme that you’ve used works well because the contrast between the colours makes the title stand out. It’s not overcrowded; I think it has just the right amount of text to imagery ratio. I like how there is one large image which keeps your attention focussed to the main image. I’m not sure about the title because you cannot fully see what the magazine is called. I think the main coverline can be changed to be made bigger because I’m more focussed on the third coverline which isn’t as important.

Feedback Summary
ü  The colour scheme
ü  Large image
ü  Layers of text and image
ü  Font & Style of the coverline
ü  Positioning of coverlines
ü  Colours of the title help to stand out
û  Colour of the word ‘more’
û  Confusion of the main article/title is too small for its importance
û  Friendly Fires image involved with the main image

After taking the feedback into consideration and making the suitable changes and correcting all of the negative points, I am able to present my final front cover
