Music Magazine Double Page Photo Shoot

For my double page spread, I knew from research and planning that I wanted to include 2 images, and with it being two pages these had to be large and very striking images to have a positive effect upon my target audience.

At first I thought this birdseye view shot of him would work quite well. But after trying to position the shot right and a couple of blurred shots, I figured this photo wasn't going very well. I also pointed out that the photos were very similar to that on the contents page so I knew I wanted something a little different.
The following photo was taken by accident and 'caught in the moment' but when searching through the endless amounts of shots I actually realised how effective this photo might be on my double page spread
During my double page spread research I found an image which had some sort of outline effect to it so I wanted replicate this on my own image.
I attempted this effect with both white and grey outlines
And figured that the grey would be the most striking. However I did not like the flashback from the camera in his eyes so carefully edited the colours in his eyes by using Fireworks. to come up with this.

For my second image I wanted to use a close up shot to show amounts of detail.

I didn't like the first two due to him looking directly in the camera and then no movement in the sticks. The following shot however would be used in the end product.
It required no editing at all and I believed it was a really clear shot and a representation of everything that I wanted to convey in the magazine. The colours and focus are really outstanding, yet natural. You can really see the effect of movement in the sticks and the concentration and pose of the model works really well in the situation. I am really proud of this.
